NEEPCO is a Schedule- A Miniratna Category- I PSU and has been a trusted power generation company in the North-Eastern region of India since 1976. It is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power and working closely with the North-Eastern states to act in their best interest in tapping the enormous power potential of the region and the country.

Presently NEEPCO is operating the largest Hydro Power Plant in the North Eastern Region of India. They are the only CPSU having Hydro and Thermal Power Stations in operation and also having exposure in construction & operation of Hydro projects in highly difficult and Geo-Technically sensitive terrain of the North Eastern Region.

Currently, NEEPCO is operating seven hydro, three thermal and one solar power stations with a combined installed capacity of 1457 MW. The Kameng HEP, having an installed capacity of 600 MW is under development and expected to be commissioned soon.

The government of India is transferring its equity shares in NEEPCO to NTPC Limited with a purchase consideration of INR 4,000 Crore. As of March 31, 2019; the balance sheet size of NEEPCO stood at INR 15,073 Crore. Adroit acted as the exclusive Asset Valuer to the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (‘DIPAM’), Government of India for this transaction. “Valuing the Power Plants have always been a challenge to any valuer considering the nature and risks associated with the assets. Doing the same in North-Eastern India is even more challenging due to the topography and various regional factors. We at Adroit thank all the stakeholders for the supports extended to us during the exercise”, said Puneet Tyagi, Group CEO, Adroit Group.
